CLARK—Senior Megan Brattole is Arthur L. Johnson High School’s Student of the Month for October.
Brattole is a member of the National Honor Society and the Italian Honor Society. She was nominated to attend the American Legion Girls’ State and Governor’s School in the Sciences. Brattole received a Student Sage nomination.
As a sophomore, Brattole participated in the Rutgers Weekend Science Academy and in her junior year she was a participant in the Trinitas Summer Nursing Program. She has been a member of SPEL/REBEL and the Italian Club for four years.
While at ALJ, Brattole was a member of the Science Club, Science League, Math League and the Concert Band. As a member of the Key Club, Brattole was involved with the Walk for Breast Cancer, the Walk for the American Heart Association and the Relay for Life. She is a Peer Leader.
Brattole has been a member of the varsity cross country team for four years and is the captain this year. In her sophomore and junior years, she received Cross Country Mountain Valley Conference Honorable Mention.
Brattole attended the Running Works Running Camp which provides guidance and experience in all areas of distance running. She participated in winter track for three years and was a member of the junior varsity softball team.
Outside of school, Brattole is a member of the Catholic Youth Organization and has done the Stations of the Cross. She is also an assistant coach for youth softball and worked the softball kitchen for tournaments.
Brattole is a member of the Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad and tutors underclassmen in math and science. She has worked as a summer recreation camp counselor and was the head camp counselor for fourth graders.
In her free time, Brattole enjoys running, bike riding, hiking and kayaking, as well as reading, baking and playing the guitar. After graduation, she would like to attend college and major in nursing. She is interested in applying to Ramapo, The College of New Jersey and Wagner.
Megan is the daughter of Diane and Richard Brattole.
