EDISON—The Township of Edison has gained the environmentally-conscious Tree City USA® status.
The Tree City USA program provides direction, technical assistance, public attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs in thousands of towns and cities where more than 120 million Americans call home.
Edison applied for the status in 2008. The catalyst for the application was an Eagle Scout project proposed to Mayor Jun Choi by James Gentner. The township received notification of its Tree City status earlier this month.
“This is a great program. As a township, we should be proud and I thank James for leading us in this direction,” Choi said.
