LINDEN – A local dentist stresses the importance of Vitamin D to all of his patients.
Dr. Gregg Schneider says that scientific evidence suggests that 80% of the American population is deficient in this health-preserving nutrient. The latest research indicates that proper Vitamin D blood levels may lower ones risk of many cancers, heart disease, autoimmune diseases, such as Multiple Sclerosis, osteoporosis as well as tooth loss and other chronic conditions. Recent studies show that Vitamin D may aid in preventing Swine Flu and other strains, Schneider added.
Schneider recommends that every person gets a simple blood test to evaluate their Vitamin D levels. Ask your physician to order a 25 (OH) D blood test. Schneider says that lab results should be in the 50-70 ng/ml range to ensure optimal health.
Schneider maintains a private dental office in Linden focused on nutritional dentistry.
