VFW Women Celebrate Statue’s Anniversary

COLONIA – On Oct. 28, the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold a 123rd anniversary celebration for the Statue of Liberty.

The program will be conducted at the base of the statue, starting at 1 p.m. National organization President Jan Tittle of South Carolina will present a gift to the statue on behalf of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Several hundred members of the V.F.W. and the Ladies Auxiliary are expected to attend. The event is open to the public.

At the event, V.F.W. national Commander Tom Tradewell will institute a new post consisting of New York City police officers that served in Iraq.

Roselee Fabio of Colonia Post #6061 and Eileen Courtney of Spotswood Post #4589 are serving as event chairs.
