ROSELLE PARK—To celebrate the first anniversary of the Art Gallery at The Casano Community Center, a dinner will be held on Nov. 4 from 6 – 8 p.m. The cost is $10 per person, all proceeds will go to help the gallery install a new exhibit hanging system.

This dinner will give attendees the chance to meet Leona M Seufert, the current exhibiting artist and the gallery’s curator, and be eligible to win a door prize. The gallery is located in the Casano Community Center, 314 Chestnut Street, Roselle Park.

The Casano Community Center Art Gallery is the only art gallery in Roselle Park. To add to the variety of events that the center provides its residents, last October a hallway in the building was converted into a space to showcase Roselle Park artists’ works.

Roselle Park resident and gallery curator, Leona M Seufert says, “In our first year we had six exhibits, four by local artists, one by high school art teacher Nick Florio, and one by his Advanced High School Senior art class. We also held receptions for each of the exhibits, inviting the public to meet the artists and discuss their works.

“The facilities for hanging the artwork is fixed and therefore limits how many pieces an artist can display. This year our goal is raise the funds to install a professional gallery hanging system.”

The upcoming year will feature artists from Roselle Park, the 2010 Advanced High School Senior art class, and a photography exhibit/contest “48 Hours in Roselle Park”.

Numerous other fundraising events will be held over the 2009 – 2010 year: a holiday craft class, and a silent auction in the spring. Also, to celebrate this first year, there will be a scrapbook available for viewing the exhibits of last year, and in January and February, free movie nights will feature films about famous artists and a short presentation by the curator on exhibiting art in the 21st century.
