Young Rockers Can Learn From A Pro

RAHWAY – Aspiring young musicians, singers and songwriters can learn about rock music from a pro this fall.

The Rahway Recreation Department will offer an eight-week hands-on class with instructor Duane Okun, lead vocalist of the indie rock band Socratic. The class is open to participants ages 12 and up and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, from Oct. 26 through Dec. 16 between 7 – 8 p.m. at the Rahway Recreation Center, 3 City Hall Plaza. The fee for this class is $50 for Rahway residents and $60 for non residents.


Okun has been touring for six years, visiting every major city in the United States, Canada and Australia as well as Tokyo, Japan. He recorded three albums on Drive Thru Records: “Lunch for the Sky” in 2005, “Just Turn” in 2006, and “Spread the Rumors” in 2008. His music has been played on MTV and various television shows.

Okun will teach children about the music industry and life on the road.
