ELIZABETH—The Rotary Club of Elizabeth, celebrating its 92nd year of service to the greater Elizabeth community, will host a unique food-tasting event, The Taste of Elizabeth and Beyond, on Monday, Oct. 26 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hilton Newark Airport Hotel, 1170 Spring Street, Elizabeth.

“Following a string of very successful food-tasting events sponsored by the Rotary Club of Elizabeth, Taste of Elizabeth and Beyond will feature 30 of the area’s finest restaurants and beverage vendors, plus some exciting new participants,” explained Kenneth Richuso, chairman.  “Our event is a unique dining experience featuring an ethnically diverse display of sumptuous gourmet dishes from Elizabeth and the surrounding area’s most exciting restaurants,” he added.

The Rotary event will kick-off a larger, week-long food-tasting experience, Restaurant Week in Elizabeth, that will run from Monday, Oct. 26 to Saturday, Oct. 31.  Participants in Restaurant Week in Elizabeth may choose from over 30 of the city’s best restaurants and enjoy a three-course dinner for $20, $30 or $40 per person, depending on the restaurant. “Now is your chance to discover new restaurants and enjoy all your favorites at a discounted price!” Richuso exclaimed.

For the Oct. 26 event, Taste of Elizabeth and Beyond, guests will enjoy selections from 25 restaurants, and more than half a dozen wineries, bakeries and coffee houses.  The event will also feature a 50/50 raffle and a free auction of dining certificates provided by the participating restaurants.  Funds raised from the Taste of Elizabeth and Beyond will enable the Rotary Club to continue to provide financial grants to local non-profit agencies and to provide college scholarships through the Club’s Albert & Louise Davis Scholarship Fund.

Tickets for Taste of Elizabeth and Beyond can be ordered online through www.DineElizabeth.org.  Tickets are priced at $30 in advance and $40 at the door.  Those individuals wishing to participate in Restaurant Week in Elizabeth may do so free of charge.  Patrons simply contact the participating restaurants directly and indicate that they are taking part in the event.  The list of restaurants can be found on the Dine Elizabeth website.
