NEW BRUNSWICK–VSA arts of New Jersey announces an exhibit by artist Michael Turner from Oct. 12 to Nov. 13 at the Red Horse Gallery at the Freehold Raceway Mall.
A meet the artist reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
Turner is a watercolor artist who received his B.A. in English from Monmouth College in West Long Branch. Prior to developing his career in the arts, he served as a military equipment item manager at Fort Monmouth for the U.S. Department of Defense. His interest in watercolors began with his retirement from civil service.
Turner has exhibited at Ralyn’s Gallery in Lakewood and Lavon’s Gallery in Freehold. He has received various awards for his art, which has been displayed throughout Monmouth County over the past several years. He is a member of the Freehold Art Society, The Laurelton Art Society, and The Guild of Creative Arts.
In recognition of Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, observed in November, the Red Horse Gallery also is featuring works by area artists in various stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
Located on the upper mall level next to Sears, the Red Horse Gallery is a collaboration of VSA arts of New Jersey and the Arc of Monmouth featuring exhibits by artists with disabilities, special events, and classes. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The gallery also is open by appointment.
