ELIZABETH—Benedictine Academy will hold a “Grand Reunion” on Saturday, Oct. 17 in Elizabeth for all classes (including women who attended the BA Paterson campus) of the all-female Catholic college prep secondary school. The event will be held from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the school, located at 840 North Broad Street in Elizabeth.
The Grand Reunion will include 12:30 p.m. Mass (optional) at the St. Walburga Monastery Church across from the Academy to be followed by a Buffet Lunch in the Academy auditorium at 1:30 p.m.
A highlight of the afternoon will be an art exhibit of the work of the late Peter J. Litrenta, former Dean of Students and Arts/Humanities teacher at the Academy. Litrenta, who passed away in 2008, served at the school for over thirty years (1968-1998). An artist in his own right, a number of his paintings will be on display at the Grand Reunion.
A committee of Benedictine Academy alumnae have been planning the event. They include Margaret Harrington MacNeill, ’62, of New Providence; Mary Ann O’Brien DeSantis, ‘60, of Piscataway; Virginia McGonegal Martin, ’62, of Whitehouse Station; Cynthia Hale Readlinger, ’69, of Westfield; and Loretta Capriglione Thornton, ’72, of Berkeley Heights.
“From time to time we have held Grand Reunions (this will be our third), so that all alums can get together at BA and catch up with each other and with what is happening at the Academy,” MacNeill stated. “The event is always hugely popular and we hope this one will be every bit as popular or more so. It will be a perfect occasion to reflect on all the accomplishments and challenges of the past and present, as well as a time to share a vision of the future of BA,” she added.
The cost of the event is $30 per person. All reservations must be made in advance. Tables for ten will be set up by decades. Invitations were mailed to all alumnae in September. If you are an alumna and have not received an invitation, or would like more information, please contact the Benedictine Academy Office of Development at 1-908-352-0670, ext. 105 or, visit www.benedictineacad.org.
