SOUTH ORANGE – Seton Hall men’s basketball head coach Bobby Gonzalez announced Friday the hiring of Colin Hampton as Coordinator of Basketball Operations to complete his 2009-10 staff.

No stranger to Seton Hall basketball, Hampton is fresh off two years of managerial experience with the team.  During this time, he served as assistant video coordinator in addition to his typical manager responsibilities.  Highly proficient in computer/video editing systems, Hampton created breakdown films and scout tapes for the Pirates, in addition to producing scouting reports and films for individual player development.

“We are thrilled to add Colin to our already young and aggressive staff,” Gonzalez said.  “He’s already been a manager and an integral part of our family, who understands me, our program and knows our players.  We feel that the promotion is well deserved.  He’s a terrific young man who has a bright future in coaching and works very hard.”

As a manager, Hampton also participated in film exchange, attended all practices and assisted coaches in the recruiting process.  He also traveled with the team to away contests.

For over two years, Hampton was the assistant director of the Eastern Invitational for The Hoop Group.  There, he assisted with the high school players recruiting process for Hoop Group tournaments.  Hampton assumed full responsibility as site manager consisting of registration, time coordination for games and players’ safety.  Helping manage more than 15 staff members, he assisted with the development of high school and AAU tournaments.

A 2009 Seton Hall graduate and sports management major, Hampton also worked the Pocono Invitational Basketball Camp, Pittsburgh Jam Fest AAU Tournament, HBC Metro Basketball Championship, HBC Mid-Atlantic Basketball Championship, Philadelphia Top-100 Basketball Camp and the Metro Top-100 Basketball Camp.
