SCOTCH PLAINS – Mark your calendar for three cooking programs in October and November that are sure to please. Each features professionally trained chef and Registered Dietitian Diane Weeks and there will be plenty to sample.

All programs are open to the public. You don’t have to be a member of the center to attend.

Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.: Fast, Fresh and Easy Veggies, featuring produce at its peak from local markets and personal gardens. The dishes prepared capture the flavors of the season and are easily duplicated at home. This program is sure to please the pickiest eaters.

Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.: Let’s Get Cooking, features real meals and simple cooking for busy families and individuals. Learn how you can make quick healthy and tasty meals at home. These dishes will appeal to your busy schedule.

Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.: Slow Food, which focuses on the flavors and benefits of slowly cooked foods. The program features browning, braising and roasting in flavorful herbs, spices and liquids to make inexpensive and common cuts of meat tender and delicious.

The programs are held at the demonstration kitchen of the RWJ Rahway Fitness Center, 2120 Lamberts Mill Road in Scotch Plains. These programs are free, but pre-registration is required. Call 1-732-499-6193.
