CARTERET – Teens will soon have their own room with comfortable chairs, new computers and iPod docking stations at the Carteret Public Library.
“Teenagers can expect a new place where they call their own,” library director Sharla Emery said. “It will be a place where they can come in and be comfortable and do a number of things, like study, do homework and relax with their friends.”
Construction is underway on the 400-square-foot, sectioned off room, which will be located at the back right corner of the library in an area that is currently underutilized, officials said. Work is expected to wrap up next month.
The construction cost is estimated at about $50,000, half of which is being paid for by the borough, from its 2008 capital fund, and the other half from the library.
