Feinstein To Perform At Kean’s Recital Hall Grand Opening

UNION – Five-time Grammy nominee Michael Feinstein will perform at the grand opening of the Gene and Shelley Enlow Recital Hall at Kean University’s East Campus on Friday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m.

Feinstein is one of the most beloved cabaret performers. He is considered one of the greatest interpreters of the Great American Songbook of music from the 1930s and 1940s and launched his career as a pianist at private parties in Los Angeles, which led to a seven-month residency at the Mondrian Hotel. His latest album, The Sinatra Project, pays tribute to Jersey-born crooner Frank Sinatra’s popular and undiscovered works.

The 332-seat recital hall is a major, regional performing arts center that offers state-of-the-art amenities designed to attract the finest concert artists and performers in the world. It features a Steinway grand piano and a Fazioli F-308, an Italian concert grand piano built specifically for the performance space. The facility also boasts a curved skylight allowing for more natural light. Other features for performing artists include a section for instrument storage and a practice area.

The recital hall was made possible through a gift from Gene and Shelley Enlow. Gene Enlow, the former chairman and chief executive officer for Atlantic Detroit Diesel-Allison, is currently chair of the Kean University Board of Trustees.

Other artists on the recital hall’s fall roster include Kean’s Concert Artists performing the sonically splendid Brahms Sextet No. 1 and virtuoso pieces on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m.; Elmar Oliveira, the violinist, along with the Arco Ensemble, a virtuoso string orchestra on Oct. 17 at 8 p.m.; and Concert Artist composer-in-residence Liduino Pitombeira, who will come from Brazil to present several pieces including the world premiere of his piano quintet on Oct. 29 at 8 p.m.
