Calvary Lutheran Announces Blessing Of Backpacks

CRANFORD—In what has become a fall tradition at Calvary Lutheran Church, 108 Eastman Street, Cranford, children—and adults—are invited to bring their backpacks, lunchboxes, briefcases and computer bags to worship for a blessing this Sunday, Sept. 20.

At the church’s 9:30 a.m. worship service the Rev. Carol A. Lindsay will bless these school and workplace tools as a reminder that God is always with us and that our Christian faith goes with us into the world after we leave church on Sunday morning.

Sept. 20 is the last Sunday of Calvary Lutheran’s summer schedule.  The church will resume two worship services and Sunday School on the following Sunday, Sept. 27.
Calvary Lutheran Church celebrates its 81st anniversary in September.  The church is a congregation of the New Jersey Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) serving the Cranford-Westfield area and surrounding communities
