Rahway Announces Senior Handyman Program

RAHWAY—The Department of Community Services, Division of Senior Services has started a Senior Handyman Program.

This program will be for Rahway’s seniors, 62 years older, who own their own home and earn under $34,432 for a single person household and $39,350 for a couple.  Income limits will increase by $4,000 for each additional person in the household.

You can register for the program now by filling out a data and income application at the Rahway Senior Center on 1306 Esterbrook Avenue. Proof of income and insurance must be provided.

Types of repairs that can be done are caulking, repairing a leaky faucet, installing smoke alarms, replacing door handles and other minor repairs.  The labor will be free, but the homeowner must supply the materials.  No yard work, emergency services, house cleaning or roof repairs will be done.  For more information, call 1-732-827-2016.
