CRANFORD – Want to enhance your writing skills? Looking to learn how to plan and lead more productive meetings in the workplace?
This fall, Union County College’s Division of Economic Development and Continuing Education is offering courses that are endorsed by the American Management Association which can enhance your skills in these two areas. All the courses will be offered on the college’s Cranford campus at 1033 Springfield Avenue.
The course, “How to Sharpen Your Business Writing Skills” begins on Wednesday, Sept. 16, and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. The course will help you update your writing skills and to excel in today’s e-writing environment. The course features special strategies to speed up online research and guidelines for creating safe and savvy e-mail. Through the use of interactive, self-directed exercises, you will acquire the techniques used by professional writers to research, draft, compose, and edit their work. Advice will be given on how to choose the appropriate language for given situations. The cost of the course is $239.
The course, “The Grammar and Proofreading Course” will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 16, also and will be held from 8:10 to 10:10 p.m. This course will teach you practical methods for improving your professional writing style. You will learn how to write with clarity and style so that your ideas come across clearly and quickly. Each person will learn how to identify the key components of a well-written business document. The cost of the course is $239.
The course, “Planning and Leading Productive Meetings” will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. This course provides substantial attention to the key role of the meeting leader and offers practical guidance on how to develop the proper mindset, manage the process, and use the best decision-making tools and facilitation skills. It also covers the dynamic issues of planning, conducting, follow-up, and meeting evaluation, with special attention being given to group dynamics and the effective use of media tools. The cost of this course is also $239.
