LINDEN—The Linden Department of Recreation and Community Services is sponsoring a one day boat safety certification course, approved by the U.S. Coast Guard, on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center, 330 Helen Street, Linden, beginning at 8 a.m.
The course takes eight hours to complete. This includes break and exam time, so bring your lunch. Registration is $75; you must sign up by Oct. 1 at one of Linden’s recreation centers (John T. Gregorio Recreation Center; Community Center Building, 605 So. Wood Avenue; Linden Multi-Purpose Center, 1025 John Street) or online at www.linden-nj.org by clicking onto CommunityPass.
Each registered individual will receive a study book, and will be required to take an examination at the end of the course. Upon attaining a passing grade, a Boating Safety Certificate for the State of New Jersey and the NASBLA will be issued.
The course instructor has been teaching boat safety courses for the past 17 years and has a Master United States Coast Guard Merchant Marine License for near coastal waters. He and the course have been approved by the N.J. State Police and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.
