Police Investigate Possible Dog Theft

LINDEN – Police are investigating the possible theft of a 6-year-old poodle named Kiki.

The white and brown dog went missing from a rear yard on the 2700 block of North Stiles Street on Thursday afternoon. The resident, a 35-year-old woman who was watching the dog while its owners were away, told police that the dog ran to Wickersham Avenue.

A witness saw an approximately 40-year-old white man with blonde hair pick up the dog and put it in a white construction van. When the witness asked the man what he was doing, he replied that the dog was his and it had jumped out of the van, police said.

The poodle was wearing a collar with the owner’s name and phone number, but a check of local animal shelters has failed to locate the dog.
