LINDEN – Elementary school students will be wearing uniforms for the first time when they head back to school on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
School No. 9 started a uniform pilot program two years ago, and it will be expanded to all eight of the district’s elementary schools this year. Each school got to choose the type of uniform they will wear, according to Superintendent Rocco Tomazic, but none of the schools included jeans in their uniforms.
According to Tomazic, uniforms help promote school spirit and simplify parents’ school clothing purchases. Elizabeth and Roselle already have school uniforms, Tomazic pointed out. The Linden program could expand to the middle school and high school in the future.
Linden will also introduce full-day pre-kindergarten for four-year-old students this year.
