PERTH AMBOY…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring an Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Caregivers Support Group meeting Tuesday, September 8, 6:30 to 8 p.m.  Caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia are invited to attend. The meeting will be held in Raritan Room D, 530 New Brunswick Ave., Perth Amboy.  Refreshments will be served.  Call (732) 324-4930 to register or for more information.

OLD BRIDGE. . . Raritan Bay Medical Center’s is sponsoring a Diabetes Support Group meeting Wednesday, September 9, 7 to 8 p.m. at the hospital’s Old Bridge campus, located on Ferry Rd. between routes 9 and 18.  Support group leader Debbie Petrizzo, RN invites anyone coping with diabetes as well as their spouse or caregiver to attend, share experiences and learn the latest diabetes management information.  The program will be held in Auxiliary Hall B and C, lower level of the Old Bridge Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the medical center.  Participants determine discussion topics.  Meetings will be visited periodically by guest speakers to discuss important health topics. PERTH AMBOY… Raritan Bay Medical Center’s monthly tour of its Dr. Sam Gordon Berkow Maternity Pavilion and family health information open house will be held Thursday, September 10, 7 p.m.

Newly expectant parents are invited to take the tour and learn about the maternity unit’s modern comforts designed to provide a calm and relaxing birthing experience. As part of the event, information is provided in an open house format about child car seat safety, guided imagery and body mechanics training for use during labor, nutritional information for mother and child, how to pick a pediatrician and an infant CPR demonstration.

Participants are asked to meet in the main lobby of the hospital’s Perth Amboy campus, 530 New Brunswick Ave.  Registration suggested, call (732) 324-5300.

OLD BRIDGE…Raritan Bay Medical Center and the Filipino American Association is co-sponsoring a free Health Fair Saturday, September 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Saint Ambrose Church in Old Bridge. Free health screenings and information will be available.  The fair will be held at Saint Ambrose Church, 96 Throckmorton Lane, Old Bridge. Screenings include body fat analysis, lung capacity testing, blood type, blood sugar testing, blood pressure, stroke risk assessment, and eye screening.  Posture, muscle strength and hand grip testing will also be offered. Dental screenings will be offered for children and adults.  A CPR demonstration and education on nutrition and meal planning, cancer, diabetes, women’s medical conditions, HIV, urinary incontinence, celiac disease, fitness and wellness, bowel and bladder disorders, acupuncture and pelvic pain will be provided. A blood drive will also be held.

OLD BRIDGE… Raritan Bay Medical Center’s Old Bridge Auxiliary is sponsoring a bus trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City Tuesday, September 15. The bus leaves at 10 a.m. from the hospital’s Old Bridge campus, 1 Ferry Rd. between Routes 9 and 18 and the return trip leaves Atlantic City at 6 p.m. Cost is $24 per person but attendees receive $30 cash back at the casino.  Attendees must RSVP by Wednesday, September 2.  For more information call Trudy at (732) 254-6954.

Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring a one day Childbirth Education / Lamaze Class Saturday, September 19, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The class is designed to help future parents better understand the childbearing process. A registered nurse with special training in labor, delivery and childcare techniques will facilitate the class.  It will be held in Centennial Hall, 530 New Brunswick Ave., Perth Amboy.  The fee for the course is $125 per couple.  Registration required, call (732) 324-5300.
