LINDEN—When people think of dance classes, the name “La Dense” comes to mind.
“Besides the fact we have been located in the center of town for the past 31 years, we are now teaching second generation students,” says director Tina Socci.
“Many of our original students are now married and have families of their own. What a sense of deja vu when their children come in and ‘Miss Tina’ is there to greet them,” says office manager Chris Leans, one of the original first-year students. “My own children take class and love to point out the ‘old pictures of mom’ located in the hallway that Miss Tina calls her ‘Hall of Fame’.”
Diversity is another reason for the great success of La Danse. “We are a melting pot of people from every walk of life,” says Olivia Rosenkrantz, a tap instructor who comes from France. “Our teachers as well as our students come from unique backgrounds and all have something to share with one another. Dance is a universal language so children and adults can learn, even when the language is not the same. Movement comes from the heart and soul. Words are not needed to make the music and movement tell a story”.
Classes are available in all genres such as ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical, modern/contemporary, hip-hop, acro-gymnastics salsa, belly dancing, creative movement for tots and many types of combination classes. They are available for boys, girls and tots through adult. Classes are offered six days per week at the state-of-the-art studio that offers three dance rooms, a dressing room, office and waiting area as well as a dancewear boutique stocked with all your dancing needs.
Students also enjoy performing on the school’s competition teams where they compete statewide and nationally, receiving many awards. They will be performing on Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. for the Linden Fall Festival at the Promenade located in the center of Linden.
La Danse offers discounts and family plans to make it more affordable for everyone to be able to enjoy learning to dance. “Focusing on the needs of the community has always been a priority,” says Socci. “As a parent myself; I have always been cost conscious. Keeping this in mind, with an eye on today’s economic crisis, prices will not go up.”

Beautiful Ballerinas—Ballet has given these lovely ladies the skill to be poised and disciplined dancers.
