LINDEN – A robber struck a West St. Georges Avenue gas station on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded to the Exxon Station on Aug. 19 at 5:46 p.m. The station employee told police that he had been robbed by a man wearing a white do-rag on his head, a white t-shirt and blue jeans. The robber entered the convenience store and patted a bulge in his waistband, the employee told police. He then made a gesture with his thumb and forefinger to indicate a gun and demanded money from the victim. The employee told police that he gave the man approximately $700 in cash.

The robber fled the store on foot and headed south on North Wood Avenue, the victim told police. Officers searched the area but failed to locate a suspect, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call Detective Andrew Spano at 908-474-8537 or email
