Hospital Offers Program On Children’s Weight Issues

LIVINGSTON—On Thursday, Sept. 24, Saint Barnabas Medical Center and Outpatient Centers will launch the Mom to Mom Interactive Series.  The first program, Handling Weight Issues in Children, will feature Debra Gill, PhD, director of the Healthy LIFE® -Weight Management Program.

She will be speaking about Handling Weight Issues in Children from 6 – 7:30 p.m.  This free program will address why some kids gain weight more easily than others, how to bring up your concerns without making a child feel bad, how to accommodate kids of different body types in the same family, preventing eating disorders, and skills that help manage weight at any age.


Gill is a licensed psychologist with more than 10 years experience running group programs for weight management. She has been featured in Family Circle and Parenting magazines for her work with teenagers and families who want to adopt more active and healthful ways of living. She has clinical expertise in treating individuals and addressing the emotional, social and practical complexities of weight loss, body image, eating disorders, and lifestyle change.
