OLD BRIDGE – Lisa Glide, a former drama teacher at Old Bridge High School who had a relationship with teenage student, was sentenced to five years on probation.
Glide, 36, of Howell, surrendered her teaching certificate and pleaded guilty on June 2 to a fourth degree charge of cruelty and neglect.
She admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male high school student that began in February 2008 and continued until her arrest on Dec. 3, 2008.
This week, Middlesex County Superior Court Judge Frederick P. DeVesa permanently banned Glide from holding any public job and ordered that she never again be allowed to teach in New Jersey.
DeVesa refused to impose a jail term against Glide, who had been teaching since 1999 and began working for Old Bridge in September 2004.
Under a plea bargain worked out with Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Christie Bevacqua, Glide had agreed to serve up to 364 days at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center.
