SOUTH AMBOY – The former Main Street Bridge was officially renamed Veterans Memorial Bridge during a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week.
Robert Sekerak, a former commander of the Luke A. Lovely American Legion Post 62, cut the ribbon, alongside some of his fellow veterans and Councilman Russell Stillwagon and Council President Fred Henry.
“It was an honor,” said Sekerak, a Vietnam veteran. “It means we are always remembered.”
The bridge, which was recently improved, is part of a larger $25.93 million infrastructure project along the Main Street corridor.
