Police Search For Armed Robbers

LINDEN – Police are searching for two men who held up a trio of unfortunate motorists early Saturday morning.

Three Cranford men, ages 18, 18 and 20, were driving on North Wood Avenue when their vehicle broke down, police said. They were waiting outside their vehicle for a tow truck when they were approached by two men on foot. The victims told police that one of the robbers produced a dark semi-automatic handgun and told the victims to “give it up.”

The robbers went through the victims’ pockets and obtained $100 cash and a wallet, police said. The robbers fled south on North Wood Avenue and got into a waiting vehicle, a silver or gray Hyundai Sonata, that drove off east into Roselle, according to police

None of the victims were injured, police said.

One of the robbers was described as a white man with a heavyset build, about 5’9, 225 lbs., who was wearing a white t-shirt, jeans and a red baseball cap. The other robber was a black man with a muscular build, about 6’0, 165 lbs., wearing dark clothing.
