Literacy Program Recruiting New Tutor Volunteers

PLAINFIELD—Literacy Volunteers of Union County is a non-profit, volunteer driven organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of adult learners by teaching them basic reading skills, writing and English as a second language.

A 15-hour New Tutor Training Workshop Series will begin this fall at the Plainfield Public Library.  The library is located at 800 Park Avenue, Plainfield.  The first session of the workshop series begins Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The remaining sessions continue on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Sept. 15, 17, 22 and 24 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Once the workshop is completed, volunteers will be certified to teach both Basic Reading Skills and English as a Second Language. Ongoing support is provided to all tutors.
