LINDEN – Linden police arrested three Elizabeth men on drug charges as the result of a drug investigation last week.
Just before 5 p.m. on July 29, officers arrested Diego Guzman, 25, Jean Lafitte Guerrero-Mejia, 26, and Steven Manrique, 22, on the 500 block of West Edgar Road. The three men were charged with possession, possession with the intent to distribute and possession within 500 feet of a park.
Each suspect was being held on $65,000 cash bail. Police seized $660 in cash and a 2002 BMW 330 when making the arrest, officials said.
Earlier last month, police arrested Earl L. Rankins, 37, of Linden following a month-long narcotics investigation in response to citizen complaints.
On July 23, just before 4 p.m., officers entered a residence on the 1100 block of Union Street to make the arrest. Rankins was charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine, distribution of marijuana and cocaine, two counts of possession of a weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and various related counts, officials said. He was being held on $100,000 bail, police said.
The arrests took place under the direction of Detective Lt. William Turbett, Narcotics Bureau Commander, and involved officers from both the Narcotics Unit and the Community-Oriented Policing Unit.
