Rahway To Participate In Annual “Night Out” Event

RAHWAY—The Rahway Police Department will join forces with city residents and thousands of communities nationwide for the 26th annual National Night Out Against Crime event on Thursday, Aug. 6.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for local anti-crime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The initiative has proven to be an effective and enjoyable program that promotes police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation, according to Det. William Eicholz of the Rahway police Community Services Bureau.

Rahway residents will be able to sign up for the Rahway Neighborhood Watch Program and Community Emergency Response Team during National Night Out.

The event, which will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., will be a part of Rahway’s 1st Thursday celebration. The monthly event will showcase classic cars and emergency vehicles on display, and feature an oldies concert. The National Night Out celebration will take place at the corner of Irving and Elm Avenue.
