Verdun grew up in Italy where as a young girl she discovered her passion for art and her artistic talents. As a teenager, she came to the United States. Dreaming about the beauty of her home country and the desire to express the passion she had for such beauty drove her to pursue a career as a professional artist. Once she learned of all the opportunities an artist could have in the United States, she embraced her new home and found there is also beauty here.

Verdun paints in acrylics, oils, and pastel with 11 of her works on exhibit in this show.  “Each piece of art I create is treated like an only child,” she said.

“While executing a work, I care for it, I concentrate on it, and sometimes even spoil it! The Old Masters and Contemporary Artists influence my composition, color, mood, and each stroke I execute. All of my works share the same intimacy in colors and their respective temperature creating my true expression. My work is conceptualized through a wide array of the most amazing things life has to offer to the most simple of objects.”

The Casano Community Center is located in downtown Roselle Park and is a gathering place for the whole Roselle Park community with programs for senior citizens during the day, and activities throughout the year for all ages. The mission of the gallery is to give Roselle Park residents a venue to display their artistic works and connect with the community at large.
