WOODBRIDGE– East Meets West at the Barron Arts Center when they host the unique traveling exhibition “Stripes,” a collaborative United States and Japan rug hooking exhibit opening on Friday, July 10.
The “Stripes” exhibition features 52 hooked rugs, 26 from the United States and 26 from Japan, is co-curated by Linda Rae Coughlin and Kei Koybayashi.
Travelling within Japan and America in 2009, “Stripes” brings together the cultures of the east and west. The stripes theme was conceptualized by the co-curators as a theme that could be easily understood by both Japanese and American artists.
The exhibit opens on July 10 and runs until Aug. 6. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 2-4 p.m. The public is also invited to attend the opening reception on Sunday, July 12, from 2-4 p.m.
The Barron Arts Center is located at 582 Rahway Avenue in Woodbridge. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend. For more information or directions, call 732-634-0413.
