Colombians Mark 199 Years Of Cultural Achievement At Library

ELIZABETH—Colombian art, music, literature, poetry and dance will enrich the library experience for Elizabeth Public Library patrons and guests as the Elizabeth Colombian Lions Club present, Semana Cultural 20 de Julio: A Commemoration of Colombia’s Independence Day.

The Opening Ceremony on July 20 will begin a week-long celebration at the library. All events will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Elizabeth Public Library Main Library on 11 South Broad Street, Elizabeth.

The Opening Ceremony with Pictorial Exposition and Handicrafts will take place on Monday, July 20, on the second floor of the library.  Tuesday, July 21, will bring Encounters with Colombian Musicians, featuring Colombian music through years and up to the present to the fourth floor. A piano concert is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22; a literary afternoon with Colombian journalist and writer Jaime Enrique Ramirez; and Friday, July 24, Folklórica Dances: Orquídea de Oro de Colombia and Salsa Dance with Camila and Sebastian of the Colombian Lions Club.

Next year will mark the bicentennial of Colombian Independence.
