Union Catholic Senior Honored For French Achievement

Stephanie Walls

SCOTCH PLAINS—Union Catholic senior Stephanie Walls of Cranford received a 2008-2009 American Association of Teacher of French Outstanding Senior Award.

Each year, a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of French as well exceptional commitment to the French language and the many cultures where it is spoken receives this honor. Students must have completed at least three years of French study at the time of graduation and be non-native speakers of French.

As a Union Catholic student, Walls was an officer for the French Club and a member of the national and French honor societies. She participated in World Language Week for four years and studied under the direction of faculty member Fran Brennan.

Walls was also president of the senior class, and a member of Big Brother/Big Sister Program. She will be continuing her education this fall at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut.
