WESTFIELD—CONTACT We Care, the 24-hour caring and crisis hotline, will celebrate 34 years of providing hope and saving lives at its gala fundraising event on Oct. 29 at the Primavera Regency in Stirling. Honorees include: Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells; NFL star George Martin; Celgene CEO Dr. Sol Barer and Mrs. Meri Barer, and Dr. Katherine Feingold of Bartky Healthcare.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the varied work of our stellar honorees who each have made such positive difference in the community,” said David Owens, executive director.
“As a volunteer-staffed caring and crisis hotline, we applaud their dedicated work advocating volunteerism; supporting the work of first-responders and emergency workers; enhancing the lives of individuals facing serious and debilitating diseases; and treating children, teens and their families who are struggling with challenging diagnoses, disorders and life situations. This celebrity event will raise critical funding support for our crisis hotline, which serves more than 12,000 callers each year throughout New Jersey.”
CONTACT We Care is based in Westfield, New Jersey, and is the primary responder in the state of New Jersey answering calls to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK and 1-800-SUICIDE. The phone lines are staffed by highly trained volunteers who provide the gift of listening to callers who are lonely, depressed, stressed or suicidal.
“We are honored to have tremendous support for our gala from many dignitaries throughout the state including: Assemblyman Jon Bramnick, Senator Tom Kean, Jr., and Union County Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella,” said Arlene Klemow, development director.
“Our growing list of gala sponsors currently includes: Celgene, PSE&G, Schering-Plough and an anonymous foundation. CONTACT’s Gala Committee is hard at work planning the October gala, soliciting additional sponsorship support, selling ad space in the Gala commemorative journal and gathering prizes for the Gala Silent Auction.”
