STATE—A New Jersey police officer was captured on surveillance videotape throwing a mentally disturbed man to the ground, punching at his face and ribs, slamming him against a squad car, and hitting him several times with a baton.

Ronnie Holloway, 49, who suffers from schizophrenia but is on medication, was badly beaten on May 29 by Passaic Officer Joseph Rio III.
Holloway did not appear to do anything to provoke the attack or resist while he was beaten by the police officer.

Shawanna Barksdale, another Passaic resident, told Eyewitness News she was beaten by the same officer a year ago, but the case was dismissed.
Rio, a seven-year veteran on the Passaic police force, has defended his actions and her remains on active duty pending a review by the county prosecutor.

“It’s a clear example of brutality, that officer needs to be removed from the police force,” said Holloway’s lawyer, Nancy Lucianna.

Police brutality and street gangs running the inside of NJ’s prison systems, like murder in poor communities, are problems that just do not get attention because Wall Street is running our government. It is time for a new American Revolution!
