METUCHEN—Metuchen resident, Martin Gizzi, MD, PhD, FAHA, of the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center in Edison received the 2009 American Heart Association Physician of the Year Award. He currently serves as chairman of the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center and as professor and chairman of Neuroscience at Seton Hall University School of Health and Medical Sciences. In his 20-year medical career, Dr. Gizzi has distinguished himself internationally as a researcher in vision and balance disorders. His work with NASA led to his directing experiments performed by astronauts aboard two space shuttle missions in the 1990s.
