According to authorities, Antonio Davis, 28, was shot once at about 8:10 p.m. on April 13 in a first-floor hallway of a five-story, brick building in the Oakwood Plaza apartment complex. Davis was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he died.
Davis lived in Rahway, but he was well-known at Oakwood Plaza. His aunt and cousins live in the building where he was killed, and his girlfriend and two sons live down the street, according to neighbors.
The building has been the location of previous violent and drug-related incidents.
