cloverUNION—This year the Union County St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is working to make parade day not only a celebration of the patron saint of Ireland but also a day of charity to benefit those less fortunate in these difficult economic times.

Joining St. Patrick’s Day parades committees across New Jersey, the Union County Parade Committee is asking parade-goers to bring food donations to the parade.

Donations of canned goods and non-perishable food items can be dropped off at three locations along the parade route: The Command Post at Morris and Commerce Avenues; the Grandstand at Morris and Stuyvesant Avenues and the Announcer Post on Morris Avenue. All food being collected will be sent to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.

The 13th annual Union County St. Patrick’s Day Parade will step off at 1 p.m. sharp on Saturday, March 14, on Morris Avenue in Union.
