PERTH AMBOY – Two men were charged last week in the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man near the Perth Amboy waterfront in June.

Fulgencio G. Monasterio of Carteret and Bernaldo Martinez of Perth Amboy were charged with the June 22 murder of Jesus Ramirez, who was stabbed behind a warehouse on High Street. Both men had been in custody since June on charges that they lied to investigators.

Authorities found Ramirez’s body wedged under a pier, about 20 yards from where he was stabbed. An autopsy determined that he died from multiple stab wounds.

The murder charges are based on statements by witnesses, the results of DNA analysis and the results of a police investigation, authorities said. Monasterio and Martinez are being held on $750,000 bail each at the Middlesex County Jail in North Brunswick.
