LINDEN – Registration has begun for this summer’s popular city day camp program. The camps will be open from June 29 through Aug. 20, operating from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
For the first time, the $200 per child camp fee can be paid in monthly installments of $50 or all at once.
Parents can register their children online at the city website, www.linden-nj.org, using the CommunityPass feature. The registration can be paid with a Visa or MasterCard credit card. Parents may also register their children in person at any of the city’s recreation centers during normal operating hours.
Staff members at the Community Center, located at 605 South Wood Avenue, or the Gregorio Recreation Center, 330 Helen Street, will accept registrations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Staff members at the Multi-Purpose Center will accept registrations from 3:30-9 p.m. Parents registering in person may pay by cash, check, money order or credit card.
Parents may only register their own children, and must do so by May 29. Completed applications should include a copy of the child’s birth certificate and parents should be prepared to show two proofs of residency such as a driver’s license or utility bill.
Campers entering the first, second or third grades this fall can attend camp at either Al Kalla Park, McGillvray Park or Veteran’s Memorial Park. Campers entering the fourth and fifth grades this fall will attend camp at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Tremley Point Road; while sixth graders will attend “Sports Camp” at McManus Middle School at Edgewood Road and DeWitt Terrace. Kiddie Campers entering Kindergarten this fall will attend camp at School #4,, Peach Orchard Park.
Each camper’s parent or guardian must attend an open house orientation at the Gregorio Center prior to the start of camp. All sessions begin at 7 p.m. and will be held on the following dates:
Children registered for Kiddie Camp: Monday, June 1
Children registered for Tremley Camp: Tuesday, June 2
Children registered for McManus Camp: Wednesday, June 3
Children registered for McGillvrary Camp: Thursday, June 4
Children registered for Memorial Park Camp; Friday, June 5
Children registered for Al Kalla Camp: Monday, June 8
At the orientation, camper’s t-shirts, day camp trip information and day camp handbooks will be distributed. Additionally, all necessary medical and release forms will be discussed. Parents will also be able to meet the camp staff and have any questions or concerns answered.
