Car Accident Claims 92-Year-Old Rahway Resident

RAHWAY – Last week, a 92-year-old Rahway resident was struck and injured while walking along Kline Place. She died two days later as a result of her injuries, authorities said.

According to a preliminary investigation, Maria Juhasz was walking on the sidewalk of Kline Place at approximately 2:22 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15. Juhasz was struck by a 2007 Nissan Murano that was backing out of the driveway of 1266 Kline Place, authorities said. She fell to the ground and suffered injuries to her head, police said.

Juhasz was transported to University Hospital in Newark by the Rahway First Aid Squad.  She died on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Patrick J. Romano of Watchung, who was driving the Nissan, was not injured.

At this time there are no charges against the driver of the Nissan. No charges have been filed against him, but the accident is still under investigation.
