Rahway Kicks Off Holiday Season With Gourmet Tasting Event

place-setting-15RAHWAY—Rahway’s “The Taste ‘08” is sure to delight area food aficionados. Some of the finest area restaurants and eateries will take part in the Nov. 14 event at the Rahway Recreation Center.

The Taste ‘08 will have well over 60 tasting stations – including 30 national brand wine, beer, and aperitif tasting stations. Attendees will have the chance to sample over 150 selections. The gourmet food tasting will include various multi-star rated restaurants, Zagat-rated restaurants, Silver Spoon-winning restaurants, high-end catering vendors, national competition winner restaurants, and some delightful local culinary secrets.

Treat your sweet tooth to fabulous gourmet desserts from superb area bakeries or top chef creations. For caffeine lovers there will be a gourmet Coffee Pavilion presented by The Quick Chek Corporation.

Quick Chek, the Arts Guild of Rahway and the Rahway Center Partnership will present entertainment during the event. The Rahway High School Boosters will be holding a holiday pie sale.

Tickets cost $30 in advance or $40 at the door and are available at the Rahway Center Partnership office, Witty’s, Beana’s, Flynn’s Irish Pub, Rahway Recreation Center, Tauros Tapas Grill and Iozzi Williams Realtors at 45 Brant Avenue in Clark. “The Taste ‘08” will last from 6:30-9:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.rahwaytaste.com.

The city’s annual holiday tree lighting will take place next Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at City Hall Plaza. There will be music and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

The popular Festival of Trees will return this year. Trees donated and decorated by local businesses and organizations will be available for viewing on Thursday evenings, Nov. 13 and 20, from 5-8 p.m. at the Union County Performing Arts Center Annex. Final bidding will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2 from 6-9 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Union County Performing Arts Center.
