Union County “Women Of Excellence” Sought For 2009 Awards

ELIZABETH—Nominations are now being accepted for the 17th annual “Women of Excellence” awards program sponsored by the Union County Commission on the Status of Women and the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

The commission is looking for outstanding nominees who live or work in Union County and have distinguished themselves in one or more of the following categories: Arts and Humanities; Business/Entrepreneurship; Community Service; Education; Government; Law; Law Enforcement; Medicine/Health Care; Volunteerism; Women’s Advocacy; Distinguished Young Leader (at least 21 years of age); and/or Lifetime Achievement.

“The Women of Excellence Award honors and respects the many different contributions made by women from all walks of life,” said Freeholder Chairman Angel G. Estrada.

The Women of Excellence who are selected from the pool of nominees will be honored at the dinner held at The Westwood, 438 North Avenue, Garwood, on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 7 p.m.

Nominations must be postmarked by Dec. 1.
