County Offers Services For Job Seekers

ELIZABETH—The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders announced that information on job training and other forms of assistance is available to county residents seeking employment, through the Union County Department of Human Services One-Stop Career Centers.

“Union County has been building up its workforce resources for many years, and the result is that today we have a solid base of operations and a strong network of partners to assist county residents with career development,” said Freeholder Chairman Angel G. Estrada.

The One-Stop Career Centers and their partner agencies offer a wide range of services including career counseling, resume preparation, and financial literacy classes, along with programs tailored for veterans, seniors, and ex-offenders.

The One-Stop Centers also offer classes in English as a second language, GED preparation, commercial driver’s license training, and forklift certification

Other job training opportunities include retail and customer service, cooking and food preparation, and computer graphics.

The One-Stop Centers are partnered with Union County College, the Jersey Gardens Mall, Academy Bus Tours, and a number of non-profit organizations. They also provide employer services such as job posting and recruitment opportunities.

“Union County’s One-Stop Centers are here to provide job-seekers with a knowledgeable, reliable place to go,” said Estrada.

Both of the centers are open to all Union County residents and businesses. The hours of operation are 8:15 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
