ELIZABETH—Sophie Litos of Elizabeth was recently selected to participate in Nationals’ 2008 Miss Pre-Teen Newark pageant competition on Oct. 18.

Litos will be competing, for her share of thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts that will be distributed to contestants. She will be competing in the Miss Pre-Teen division, one of four divisions that will have young ladies (between the ages of seven and 19) competing in modeling routines which include casual wear and formal wear. Most important, Litos will display her personality and interviewing skills while interviewing with this year’s Newark judging panel. Personality is the number one aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition.

If Litos were to win the title of Miss Pre-Teen Newark, she would represent Newark and the surrounding communities at the Cities Of America National Competition that will take place in Orlando, Florida. Over $60,000 in prizes and awards will be presented at the national competition while each winner enjoys an expense paid trip to Florida.

Community businesses, organizations, and private individuals are sponsoring Litos to participate in this year’s competition. Through sponsorship, each contestant receives all the necessary training, rehearsals, and financial support which will allow her to become a very confident and well-prepared contestant in this year’s Newark Pageant.

The Angel’s Unisex Salon II of Elizabeth, the Galaxy of Rahway, Colosseum Diner of Linden, Huck Finn Restaurant & Diner of Union and Bridal’s By Christina of Elizabeth are some of the businesses helping Litos to compete.

If you are interested in sponsoring Litos, contact pageant coordinator Patty Neidert at 1-800-569-2487.
