CRANFORD—The Union County Council of the League of Women Voters will present its annual candidates’ forum at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the Cranford Municipal Building, 8 Springfield Avenue.
Three seats on the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders are open this year, all for three-year terms. The candidates are Democrats Angel Estrada of Elizabeth, Rick Proctor of Rahway and Nancy Ward of Linden, and Republicans Michael Yakubov of Roselle Park, John Russitano of Westfield and Joseph Franchino of Berkeley Heights.
In keeping with league policy of providing a trained moderator from outside the election district, this year’s event will be moderated by Jane Sailer, a member of the Montclair Area League. Millie Lewis of Cranford, a member of the Union Area League, will make the introduction.
As in past years, members of the audience will have an opportunity to submit written questions to any or all of the candidates.
The program will be taped and is expected to be shown on Comcast’s public access television channels at a later date.
Candidates’ nights are among the public service and educational programs regularly provided by the League, a non-partisan organization that is open to all interested persons, male as well as female. Additional information about the league is available by calling (908) 925-9784 or (908) 687-687-4285 or by visiting www.lwvnj.org.
