ELIZABETH – A special surprise guest greeted children at the Kid’s Kingdom Traveling Jubilee on Sunday, Aug. 3, at Phil Rizzuto Park. Union County’s own Tiffany Andrade, Miss New Jersey USA 2008, was on hand to talk about her experiences and sign autographs.
“We are thrilled to have Tiffany Andrade, Miss New Jersey USA 2008, join the festivities and meet the children,” Angel G. Estrada, chairman of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders said prior to the event. “Ms. Andrade is a warm-hearted and generous role model for any young person who aspires to excel in life and to help others.”
The event included free children’s activities, entertainment and exhibits, along with modestly priced moonwalks and other activities.
Andrade, 23, is a resident of Linden. She is a registered nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Raising funds for cancer research will be the focus of Andrade’s year as Miss New Jersey USA 2008. She has previously been involved with cancer-related organizations including The Ronald McDonald House and The Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Andrade earned her degree in nursing at Wagner College, where she acted in numerous leadership roles. While there, she combined her lifelong love of dance and her passion for working with children by teaching hip-hop at I.S. 51 in Staten Island. She intends to start a family of her own, and to continue her medical education.
