ELIZABETH – IRS-trained volunteers will provide free assistance to city residents interested in applying for the federal government’s economic stimulus package.
Economic stimulus payments are available to individuals with income over $3,000 in 2007 from earnings, Social Security/Railroad Retirement benefits and/or Veterans Disability benefits.
Assistance will be available in two locations. Volunteers will be at the Stephen Sampson Center, 800 Anna Street, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesdays Aug. 5, Sept. 16 and Oct. 7. They will also be at Liberty Square Center, 240 Elizabeth Avenue, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursdays Aug. 7, Sept. 18 and Oct. 9.
Residents seeking assistance must bring a photo ID and Social Security card, proof of earned income (W-2s, 1099s), their annual Social Security/Railroad Retirement statement and/or proof of Veterans Disability Benefits.
The deadline for filing for economic stimulus payments is Oct. 15. For more information, call 908-820-4026.
