SAYREVILLE-Sayreville held their annual Independence Day Celebration on June 28 at Kennedy Park. The festivities began at 4 p.m., but were halted for a short time with a downpour of rain. Activities quickly began again as the rain stopped. Entertainment for the day was Rose Dale; classic rock, Matt O’Ree Band; blues and rock, and John Eddie; folk rock. An apple pie bake off and hot dog eating contests were held, along with rides and activities for the kids.
The food menu for the day included Texas barbecue, Bear’s hot dogs, Romeo’s pizza, Donny D’s, ice cream, Italian ice and Sayreville PBA’s famous barbecue spareribs, served with corn on the cob and cole slaw.
Director of Recreation Jerry Ust and his Recreation Advisory Board were instrumental in putting together the festive variety of activities for all to enjoy in the borough.
The jam packed park was filled with people waiting for the spectacular fireworks to begin and many oohs and aahs were heard as the skies of Sayreville lit up.
