RAHWAY – Police arrested three men Friday who were charged with burglarizing a Midwood Drive home.

Twenty-seven year-old Fords resident Brian Jenkins was arrested after he jumped from the home’s second floor landing, Lt. Joseph Simonetti said, while members of the Rahway SWAT team had to bring out the other two men, Woodbridge resident Donald Russel, 21, and Rahway resident Etay Robinson, 20.

Simonetti said that police received a report of a burglary in progress around 10:49 a.m. Friday. A witness said that the suspects approached the home on the 1200 block of Midwood Drive in a beige Honda.

Police surrounded the home and Officer Thomas Salvia arrested Jenkins when he jumped from the second floor landing to the ground. Jenkins was not injured during the jump, according to Simonetti.

The lieutenant said that the other two men remained in the home and indicated that they weren’t coming out. Police maintained a perimeter around the home and members of the Rahway Special Weapons and Tactics team were called in. They communicated with the two men and entered the home to bring them out without incident, Simonetti said.

The burglars were attempting to steal jewelry, police said, and they believe the home was randomly selected.

The three men were charged with burglary, theft and criminal damage.
